Common Ground

As an advocate for victims of Human Trafficking at Common Ground, Allie Mercer helps individuals from the initial emergency response to long-term independence.

Born and raised in Oakland County, Mercer has created a local task force to better the collaborations between police, prosecutors and social service advocates as they deal with crime victims. She is the founder of the Oakland County Survivor to Thriver initiative to help fill financial gaps for survivors and is a board member for the Sparrow Foundation Project, which is working on the first emergency shelter for human trafficking victims.

She also worked for the United States Probation Department in Detroit and was the victim advocate and intake coordinator at the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County.

Mercer received a special commendation citation from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Division for the emergency response to the Oxford High School Shooting.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Oakland University and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement Intelligence and Analysis from Michigan State University.

She coaches a competitive dance squad at Seaholm High School and lives in Rochester Hills.
